Process Unlimited To Debut Virtù Collection at NY International Carpet Show

Black CoralVirtù, a dazzling collection of eight digitally conceived hand-knotted Tibetan wool rugs designed by David Shaw Nicholls for Process Unlimited, will debut at the New York International Carpet Show October 6-8 at the Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street, New York City.

Inspired by Oriental carpets and brimming with Italian Renaissance bravado, these 120-knot rugs were conceived to enhance both modern and traditional interiors. As befits the collection’s name, each design explodes the nature motifs so distinctive of those classic carpets into compelling topologies and cosmos-like forms. The sumptuous color combinations and startling patterns signal a whole new direction for Process Unlimited’s line of HandKnots.

Converting the original digital art into these pixilated textiles was a highly complex and labor-intensive undertaking involving the close collaboration of the designer, the Nepalese rug maker, and his team of gifted weavers. New techniques were developed to realize these elaborate and myriad-hued designs.
