Kaminiski Auction March 4 2018
Auctioning off 292 rugs on a Sunday morning can seem daunting, but Kaminski Auctions on March 4, 2018 sold approximately 75% of the rugs on offer, with no reserve, but most sold at the opening bid or within three bids.
Many lots went for under $1,000. A good Nain that opened at $5,000 sold for $14,000, and that was the top lot at $100 psf. Very little appeared to have sold over $10 psf.
One person who attended had recently bought a large house in the area, and furnished it with 21 rugs bought at the auction. Estimates aside, the rugs were priced to sell, and sold.
As expected, Oushaks were the most popular.
Kaminski’s representative did not answer our question about internet sales — sorry .
